The People-Sentinel

The People-Sentinel is a weekly newspaper located in Barnwell, S.C., just south of Aiken County. The newspaper is published every Wednesday and has a circulation of about 7,500.

The (Barnwell) Palmetto Sentinel was established March 17, 1852, by E.A. Bronson, and changed to the Barnwell Sentinel in 1859. In 1925, the Barnwell Sentinel merged with the Barnwell People, which had been established in 1877 by editor and proprietor John W. Holmes. The newspaper was called the Barnwell People-Sentinel, with Edward A. Bronson as editor.

B.P. Davies became editor and publisher in 1925. The newspaper's name was changed in 1991 to The People-Sentinel with Eric Denty, publisher.

Morris Communications acquired The People-Sentinel in August 2006.
