TAC Media and The Augusta Chronicle Name Dr. Peggie Koon VP of Audience

AUGUSTA, GA— January 18, 2012 — Dr. Peggie Koon, director of strategy, partnership development and management at Morris Communications Company, LLC has been named vice president of audience for TAC Media and The Augusta Chronicle, a new, senior-level position created by each of Morris Publishing Group’s metro markets. This new role will focus on building a powerful community voice by growing the news, audience and digital efforts.

Koon’s media career began in 2006 at Morris DigitalWorks (MDW), where she worked on strategic audience and revenue initiatives. She became deputy COO of the delivery division for MDW and most recently served as the director of strategy, partnership development and management for Morris Communications and Morris Publishing Group.

“I placed a priority in getting the right person to lead our audience initiatives, and Peggie was at the top of my list,” said Dana Atkins, president of TAC Media and The Augusta Chronicle. “With over 6-years of contributions to Morris Communications, Peggie has gained an outstanding reputation based on her competency in leveraging digital technology, content development and audience and revenue growth.”

Koon has a BA in mathematics from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She completed graduate studies in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia and received her doctorate degree in Management Information Systems from Kennedy Western University in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

We will continue to seek new and exciting ways to provide increased levels of engagement and interaction with our audiences.”

Prior to joining Morris, Koon spent over 25 years developing IT systems for process automation and process control in a variety of industries -- automotive, nuclear defense, aerospace, nuclear reprocessing, thermal ceramics, and textiles.

Koon grew up in Augusta and is a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta. She is married to Wayne Koon. They have one son, Justin Avery Koon.
