Times-Union Media Announces Vice President of Audience

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — May 30, 2012 — Kurt Caywood, director of online revenue at The Topeka (Kan.) Capital-Journal since 2009, has been named vice president of audience at Times-Union Media, which publishes The Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville.com and numerous other northeast Florida print and digital outlets.

Morris Publishing Group Names Les Simpson to Group Publisher

AUGUSTA, GA — May 18, 2012 ­— Les Simpson, publisher of AGN Media and the Amarillo Globe-News, has been named group publisher of Morris Publishing Group.

In this new position, Simpson will continue his role at AGN Media and the Amarillo Globe-News and will also oversee Morris properties in Brainerd, Minn., Conway, Ark., Juneau, Alaska, and Kenai, Alaska.

The Augusta Chronicle Names Vice President of Audience

AUGUSTA, GA — April 27, 2012 — Alan English, executive editor of The Augusta Chronicle, has been named vice president of audience, a new senior-level position created in each of Morris Publishing Group’s metro markets. This new role will focus on building a powerful community voice by growing the news, audience and digital efforts.
 
English, a 25-year veteran of the industry, started his career as staff photographer at the Knoxville Journal in 1987.

Since 2000, he has served in senior management positions in Shreveport, La., and Augusta.

AUGUSTA, GA — March 15, 2012 — Florida Times-Union Publisher Lucy Talley will be leaving the newspaper to take a position with Hearst Newspapers, she announced today in a meeting with employees.

Talley will become a group publisher for community newspapers at Hearst, a division of Hearst Corp. Morris Communications Co., the parent company of the Times-Union, appointed Talley associate publisher of the Times-Union in November 2008 and then made her publisher in March 2009.
