MICHAEL
T. HENGEL NAMED
PUBLISHER IN HOLLAND, MICH.
Augusta,
Ga. - Michael T. Hengel, publisher of the Log Cabin Democrat
in Conway, Ark., since 1994, has been named publisher of The
Holland (Mich.) Sentinel, effective immediately.
He succeeds Ronald A. Wallace, who resigned in August 2001.
The announcement was made by Will
Morris, president of Augusta-based Morris Communications Corp.,
parent company of both daily newspapers.
"Mike Hengel has done an outstanding
job in Conway, and we are pleased to be able to promote him
to a larger newspaper," Morris said.
Hengel said he is honored "to
have this opportunity to serve as publisher of the Sentinel.
My family and I are looking forward to moving to Holland and
becoming a part of this wonderful community."
A journalist for 25 years, Hengel,
47, began his newspaper career as a reporter in Fort Smith,
Ark., in 1976. He later was a copy editor, news editor and editor
at the Vallejo (Calif.) Times-Herald; editor of
The Commercial in Pine Bluff, Ark.; and editor of the
Daily Bulletin in Ontario, Calif.
