MICHAEL T. HENGEL NAMED PUBLISHER IN HOLLAND, MICH.

Augusta, Ga. - Michael T. Hengel, publisher of the Log Cabin Democrat in Conway, Ark., since 1994, has been named publisher of The Holland (Mich.) Sentinel, effective immediately. He succeeds Ronald A. Wallace, who resigned in August 2001.

The announcement was made by Will Morris, president of Augusta-based Morris Communications Corp., parent company of both daily newspapers.

"Mike Hengel has done an outstanding job in Conway, and we are pleased to be able to promote him to a larger newspaper," Morris said.

Hengel said he is honored "to have this opportunity to serve as publisher of the Sentinel. My family and I are looking forward to moving to Holland and becoming a part of this wonderful community."

A journalist for 25 years, Hengel, 47, began his newspaper career as a reporter in Fort Smith, Ark., in 1976. He later was a copy editor, news editor and editor at the Vallejo (Calif.) Times-Herald; editor of The Commercial in Pine Bluff, Ark.; and editor of the Daily Bulletin in Ontario, Calif.
