BARRY
PASCHAL NAMED PUBLISHER OF NEWS TIMES
Augusta,
Ga. - Barry L. Paschal has been named publisher of The
Columbia County News Times, a twice-weekly newspaper in
Martinez, Ga., serving suburban areas of Augusta. Paschal succeeds
Lester T. Simpson, who remains assistant general manager of
The Augusta Chronicle. The News Times operates
under the auspices of the Chronicle.
Three additional promotions were
announced as part of the reorganization program: Christopher
D. Caldwell, formerly manager of Internet engineering services,
has been named vice president of technology services; Connie
C. Ling, formerly manager of sales, has been named vice president
of business development; and Stephen D. Yelvington, formerly
manager of Web site development, has been named vice president
of strategy and content.
"These changes in online services
not only recognize deserving employees, but also help to position
Morris Digital Works as a major player in a very competitive
marketplace," said Will Morris, president of Morris Communications.
Paschal was previously opinions
editor and columnist for the News Times, and has been
an editorial writer and reporter for the Chronicle since
interning at the newspaper in 1983. Paschal also has worked
in Augusta radio and television and with other local newspapers.
He is a Columbia County native and holds a degree in journalism
from the University of Georgia.

respected presence in Columbia County for many years, " said
