NAMES NEW CORPORATE EDITOR
AUGUSTA,
Ga.Catherine A. Martindale has been named corporate editor
of Morris Communi- cations Co., effective immediately. The announcement
was made today by Chairman and CEO William S. Morris III. Martindale,
of Amarillo, Texas, succeeds Andra T. Eanes, who retired Aug.
31 after 33 years with Morris.
In
her new position, Martindale will assist with writing and editing
publications and corporate documents from the company's department
of corporate communications. Her responsibilities also will
include writing and editing special publications for the Augusta
Cutting Horse Futurity and the National Barrel Horse Association.
In
addition, Martindale will work as writer and editor of special
projects for the Morris Cowboy Publishing Group, whose equine
publications include Western Horseman magazine and two tabloids,
Quarter Horse News and Barrel Horse News.
"Cathy is ideally suited to take on this very important role
for our company," Morris said. "She has more than 30 years of
experience in the newspaper business and has a distinguished
reputation as a journalist."
Prior
to the corporate appointment, Martindale was executive editor
of the Amarillo Globe-News for 15 years. Previously she was
the copy desk chief at the Wichita (Kan.) Eagle-Beacon for two
years, and at the Morris-owned Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville,
Fla., for three years.
Martindale
has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio University in
Athens, Ohio, and began her career at the Dayton (Ohio) Journal
Herald, where she was a reporter, copy editor, production editor
and city editor.
