AUGUSTA, Ga.— Paul V. Buckley of San Jose, Calif., has been named to the newly created position of chief technology officer for Morris Communications Company. The announcement was made today by Morris Communications President William S. Morris IV and Morris Vice President and Chief Information Officer Steven B. Strout, and is effective immediately.

As chief technology officer, Buckley is charged with the creation of a new Morris technology center designed to ensure collaboration between Morris engineering services and technical operations. The project is expected to begin within the next 60 days.

Buckley brings to Morris 19 years of experience in a variety of information technology roles, including 16 years in the development of software products. Most recently, Buckley served for three years as director of infrastructure for the newspaper publishing company Knight Ridder. He also spent four years working in product management for Oracle, a leading software provider of industry-standard technologies.
