AUGUSTA, Ga. Mark E. Nusbaum has been named publisher of The Topeka Capital-Journal. The announcement was made today by Morris Publishing Group President and Chief Executive Officer William S. Morris IV and is effective immediately. Nusbaum succeeds John J. Fish.
Nusbaum most recently spent five years as publisher of another Morris daily newspaper, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. Nusbaum has 32 years' experience in the newspaper business, including five years as executive editor of the Capital-Journal prior to joining the Avalanche-Journal.
"Mark's talent and passion for the newspaper business is undeniable," Morris said. "After five successful years in Lubbock, we look forward to the results of his leadership and vision in Topeka."
Nusbaum grew up in Topeka and is a graduate of Topeka High School and Washburn University. He started his newspaper career in the Capital-Journal newsroom while still in high school and remained there through college, eventually working his way up to executive editor.
