AUGUSTA, Ga.— Morris Communications Co. announced today that Linda Kennedy, president of its Globe Pequot Press division, has resigned to pursue other interests.

Globe Pequot Press, the world's leading publisher and distributor of regional travel, outdoor recreation and leisure books for the United States, was purchased by Morris in 1997. Kennedy began working at Globe Pequot Press in 1978 and has been president since 1994.

"I am very grateful for my years at Globe Pequot, but I feel that it is the right time to explore new challenges," Kennedy said. "I am proud to leave behind a company that over the years has matured and blossomed into a market leader in travel and outdoor recreation information."

Under her management, Globe Pequot Press acquired the Falcon Guide series, Lyons Press and the Cadogan Guides series for travelers to Europe as well as several smaller book companies. She also oversaw the relocation of the company's headquarters from Old Saybrook, Conn. to its present location in Guilford, Conn. and the opening of the division's new book distribution center in Springfield, Tenn.

Globe Pequot annually publishes more than 500 titles and distributes 300 new titles yearly for other publishers.
