Stephen Wade has been named general manager of the Augusta Chronicle and Chronicle Media. The announcement was made by William S. Morris III, publisher of The Augusta Chronicle and chairman of Morris Communications.

“Steve understands our important balancing act; to deliver quality content our audience wants and needs, while building new, sustainable business models that will be of value to generations to come,” said William S. Morris IV, CEO of Morris Communications.

Wade’s career spans 25 years in the newspaper industry, including roles as regional publisher for BH Media Group in Florence, S.C., the senior group publisher for Gatehouse Media in Independence, Mo., the editor and publisher of The Morning Sun in Pittsburg, Kan., and the director of operations for the Topeka Capital-Journal in Topeka, Kan.

“Steve’s innovative spirit, and extraordinary news and technology background will refresh our historically-rich, news efforts, and diversify our product portfolio in the CSRA,” said May.

Wade has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, University of Kansas; Master of Business Administration, Florida Institute of Technology and has served in leadership roles in a variety of community organizations including chambers of commerce and the United Way.

Wade and his fiancée, Paula, have recently moved to North Augusta. He has two adult children, Jessica and Bryan.
