Tony Bernados promoted to Publisher of The St. Augustine Record

Augusta, GA – June 30, 2016

Tony Bernados, vice president of revenue for the Savannah Morning News has been named publisher of The St. Augustine Record in St. Augustine, Florida.  The announcement was made by William S. Morris IV, president and CEO of Morris Communications Co.

“It is wonderful to have in-house talent like Tony that can step into new opportunities,” said Morris. “Tony’s experience and enthusiasm will be a good fit for The Record and the St. Augustine community.”

Bernados will report to Mark Nusbaum, president of The Florida Times-Union and group publisher for the Morris Florida Division.

“Tony has performed at a very high-level in numerous high-level assignments for us at Morris — at The Florida Times-Union, the Savannah Morning News, The Augusta Chronicle, and even as vice president of digital advertising at corporate headquarters,” said Nusbaum. “We believe Tony is well prepared to handle this new assignment, as publisher of The St. Augustine Record.”

Bernados, a 17 year veteran of the media industry, spent the last nine years with Morris Communications in key advertising and revenue roles including vice president of revenue at the Savannah Morning News, corporate vice president of Digital Media and Revenue at Morris Publishing Group, classified director, Times-Union Media and vice president of sales and marketing at The Augusta Chronicle.   Prior to joining Morris Communications, Bernados held positions with Scripps Howard, Evening Post Company, and Block Communications.

“Tony’s an outstanding leader, and he’s the right person to lead the charge in this great community,” said Derek May, president of Morris Publishing Group and former publisher of The St. Augustine Record.

“St. Augustine is a beautiful city rich in history and I am excited to begin working with the wonderful Record staff in serving the community,” said Bernados.

Bernados and his wife of 20 years have three sons, and will live in St. Augustine.
